From Canggu to Sanur, across the south
Canggu faces west and its waves, Sanur faces east and its calm lagoon. The distance between them is short, but it runs through the full density of south Bali. We have not timed this route: the range of roughly 1 h to 1 h 30 is an estimate, taken from our two published airport transfers, which head off in different directions.

In short
Facts as of · sourced figures
From Canggu to Sanur, allow roughly 1 h to 1 h 30 on the road. That is not a timed figure: both bases are 30 to 75 min from the airport by different roads, and we derive this order of magnitude from that. Ride-hailing is usually enough; no fare is official.

- Best time: late morning or early afternoon, well clear of the evening peak.
- Good to know: the route crosses the outskirts of Denpasar; the hour you leave sets the time.

Ways to get from Canggu to Sanur
Ride-hailing is the usual choice: there are plenty of cars at both ends and the route stays in the south. A booked driver is more comfortable for a family or with luggage. A scooter is possible for a seasoned rider without a suitcase, but Denpasar traffic is draining.

| Metered taxi | Roughly 1 h to 1 h 30 | On the meter | Those without the apps | Fine |
| Scooter | Variable | Local rental | Experienced riders, no suitcase | Backpack only |

Pitfalls on the Canggu–Sanur route
The pitfalls: leaving in the late afternoon and crossing Denpasar at the evening peak; planning this drive on the morning of an island boat with no margin; taking the first price; and giving just “Sanur” as the address when the beach stretches a long way.
- Leaving in the late afternoon: crossing Denpasar takes much longer.
- Chaining this drive with a morning boat: sleep in Sanur the night before the crossing.
- Taking the first price: compare Grab, Gojek and a metered taxi.
- Giving just the neighborhood: share the exact location of your accommodation.
What next: Sanur, gateway to the islands
In Sanur, read the region page and the where-to-stay page. Sanur mostly works as a harbor: Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida are reached by boat from its beach. Honestly, this drive has no appeal of its own; do it once, the day before a crossing or to wind down your stay.
Read next: the Sanur page, where to stay in Sanur, then the crossings Sanur → Nusa Lembongan and Sanur → Nusa Penida.
