Echo Beach: the experienced surfers’ beach, north of Canggu
Echo Beach, north of Batu Bolong, is a stretch of volcanic rock and pebbles where the wave breaks hollower. People come to watch the surfers, see the fishermen come in and eat grilled fish at sunset. Not to learn, and not to swim.

In short
Facts as of · sourced figures
You watch the surf from a terrace, walk the shore at low tide, and in the evening choose your fish from a display before it goes on the grill. The wave, more powerful than at Batu Bolong, is easy to read from the shore: a good place to understand surfing without doing it.

Key points
- Hollower wave over a rocky bottom: a spot for surfers who are already independent.
- In the evening, restaurants lay out the catch of the day, grilled and paid by weight.
- Parking is paid; the fee is told at the entrance and can be checked on site.
- Swimming is not advised: rocks, currents and waves breaking close to shore.
The official name is Batu Mejan. Fishermen still drag their boats onto the shore here, next to surfers and terraces. Sand shows mostly at low tide; at high tide only a strip of pebbles remains at the foot of the walls.
