Why we picked it

An editorial choice based on facts the place publishes, not on a stay or a meal.

Hujan Locale is chef Will Meyrick’s modern Indonesian restaurant on Jalan Sri Wedari, north of Ubud’s main road. The menu is meant for sharing, from Padang beef rendang to Balinese duck lawar.

Because its menu, published online, names dishes from across the archipelago, from the Moluccas to Padang, with their ingredients: one of the few tables in Ubud where you know before you come what you will taste. It is central and open all day.
